Marjorie “Joy” Frenette is a Filipina-Canadian with a passion for creative writing, which inspired her to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Far Eastern University, Philippines. Formerly worked as a multimedia reporter and a television researcher before moving to Canada, she became exposed to the impact of both mainstream and social media on children and women. Currently taking her master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, Joy hopes to raise awareness of the detrimental effects of setting a standard of beauty among children on their emotional and mental well-being. Writing the book, What’s Wrong with my Skin, as a first-time mother, she hopes to inspire children to embrace their skin tone and beauty instead of always trying to fit in.
